Early Literacy Programs

These sessions will help children learn to love stories and get ready for reading. Parents will also learn about authors and titles and how they can help their child get ready for learning and school. For information about program dates and times, please visit our online calendar. 


Read, Sing, Play!

Children and their family or caregivers will enjoy this 100% literacy based drop-in storytime combining stories, songs, and rhymes with activities and time for play!


Baby Time

A drop-in, literacy based storytime for babies up to 24 months. Your baby will learn through stories, songs, lap rhymes and play. Siblings are welcome.


Wild Ones

A drop-in literacy-based storytime for young toddlers 7 to 23 months combining stories, songs, lap rhymes and play! Your toddler will learn the sounds and rhythm of language and its value. Instill an early love of reading and encourage socialization in your toddler! 


Tales for Twos

Singing, stories, activities, and rhymes for two year olds and their caregivers. Registration begins two weeks before program date by phone, in person, or online. 


Preschool Storytime

A school readiness program for children ages 3 and 4 to attend on their own while caregivers remain nearby in the Library. Parental participation is required for the activity portion of the program. Registration begins two weeks before program date by phone, in person, or online.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Programs

Build and Play @ Mary J - any time!

Families are invited to come and play with our creative engineering and building toys! Mastermind a massive marble maze, build an adventure with Goldie Blox, or snap together Magna Tiles. Toys are suitable for children ages 4+ and are available whenever the Library is open.


County Park Creations

Play, build and create using Lego and other kits! All ages, just drop in.


Northern ThinkHub


Come in and explore our standing units of "Chain Reaction" and "Good Vibrations". We have also had several classes coming into participate in our Bridges or Tremendous Towers modules. If you are interested in more information, or booking a class visit, please visit us in person on the lower level of the Brodie Community Hub, phone us at 624-4205, or email us at The ThinkHub is open the same hours that the Brodie Community Hub is open, with the exception of scheduled class visits, so please feel free to drop by and explore!

TD Summer Reading Club

The TD Summer Reading Club is Canada's largest and coolest reading program for young people. Sign up to be part of it and you will receive a free booklet, weekly stickers and prizes when you visit the Library.


Play Day @ Waverley

Drop into the Waverley Auditorium for literacy promoted through dramatic and unstructured play! Please note on PA Days the room will be available for play but some small blocks of time might be blocked out for special programming. See our online calendar for dates.

Readers Are Leaders

Our Readers Are Leaders program matches children in grades 1, 2 or 3 with a volunteer from the community to read together and enjoy fun activities that build confidence, interest, and the joy of reading! The program is run three times a year for 8 weeks.
