Meeting Rooms

Do you need a room for a meeting, display or performance?  We have a variety of rooms available for booking that you can request through library staff.

Masks will continue to be mandatory when inside the Library and all bookable spaces. Refreshments are not permitted.

The Thunder Bay District Health United has stated that organizations may continue to mandate the use of masks in their place of business. TBPL will continue to require that masks be worn when inside the library.

Library spaces are not available for birthday parties, showers, or other celebrations. All Library locations have wifi. Click here for hours and locations of our Community Hubs. You may review the Contract for Use of Thunder Bay Public Library's Meeting Spaces online here (pdf).

There is no charge for non-profit groups and co-sponsored Library programs.

Rooms must be left in the condition found (tables/chairs stored, all garbage in receptacles).

Room details:

External groups may request that a smudging ceremony accompany their library meeting space booking by calling the Director of Communities at 807-684-6813 or emailing comments@tbpl.ca. External requests must be made one week in advance of the event date. If the indoor designated smudging area is occupied or unavailable during the requested time, staff may recommend a designated outdoor smudging area. 

Mary J.L. Black Community Program Room

    • PA / sound system, DVD player, TV, video projection unit ($20 fee)
    • tech support is not available but you may schedule a test run in advance of your event
    • tables and chairs available to set up yourself
    • flip chart, podium, large screen
    • puppet stage is not available for use
    • $56.50 (includes HST), $52.50 (with status card) for up to four hours, per booking (*)
    • $113.00 (Includes HST), $105.00 (with status card) for four to eight hours, per booking (*)
    • this room is not available for celebrations or parties
    • no charge for non-profit groups and co-sponsored Library programs

Waverley Auditorium

    • room with stage and space for 120 chairs
    • PA / sound system, DVD player, TV, large screen, podium with microphone, video projection unit ($20 fee)
    • tech support is not available but you may schedule a test run in advance of your event
    • 120 chairs and 8 tables available to set up yourself
    • puppet stage is not available for use
    • $56.50 (includes HST), $52.50 (with status card) for up to four hours, per booking (*)
    • $113.00 (Includes HST), $105.00 (with status card) for four to eight hours, per booking (*)
    • no charge for non-profit groups and co-sponsored Library programs

(*) Note: The fees listed above provide guidelines for one-off rentals. Longer-term rentals will be negotiated.
