Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies is a new, early literacy program for children in grades one, two and three that is designed to help children become better, more confident and motivated readers.

The program is free. Children will participate in one-to-one reading and play literacy based games with a supportive and screened volunteer.

  • The Fall 2023 program will take place at the Waverley Library.
  • It will run on Tuesday evenings starting on September 12, 2023
  • Parents can choose a start time of 5:30 pm or 6:30 pm.
  • Register for the program by visiting the online calendar.

Early Literacy Programs

These sessions will help children learn to love stories and get ready for reading. Parents will also learn about authors and titles and how they can help their child get ready for learning and school.

Read, Sing, Play!

Children and their family or caregivers will enjoy this 100% literacy based drop-in storytime combining stories, songs, and rhymes with activities and time for play!

 

Baby Time

A drop-in, literacy based storytime for babies up to 24 months. Your baby will learn through stories, songs, lap rhymes and play. Siblings are welcome.

 

Tales for Twos

Singing, stories, activities, and rhymes for two year olds and their caregivers. Registration begins two weeks before program date by phone, in person, or online. 

 

Preschool Storytime

A school readiness program for children ages 3 and 4 to attend on their own while caregivers remain nearby in the Library. Parental participation is required for the activity portion of the program. Registration begins two weeks before program date by phone, in person, or online.
