2.9 Harassment, Sexual Harassment & Discrimination

To establish procedures to be followed by:

1. Those who consider themselves subject to or identify incidents of workplace harassment or discrimination,
2. Employees accused of workplace harassment or discrimination, and
3. By those who receive complaints of harassment and discrimination, including management, human resources and joint health and safety committees.

This policy addresses Workplace Harassment, Sexual Harassment and Discrimination at TBPL as it relates to all persons, staff and public.including Board members.

The Thunder Bay Public Library is committed to providing a work environment in which all employees are treated with respect and dignity. Harassment, sexual harassment and discrimination will not be tolerated in the workplace from any person including Library employees and management, members of the public, volunteers, other employers and contractors. This Policy applies to all employees and it addresses harassment and discrimination in the workplace.

Workplace harassment and discrimination are prohibited by law. Complaints of workplace harassment and discrimination will be thoroughly and expeditiously investigated. The complainant will be protected from retaliation for having made a complaint in good faith.

Likewise, the accused will be deemed innocent until found otherwise.
