To establish norms surrounding Library Board member attendance at conferences
This policy applies to members of the Thunder Bay Public Library Board.
All Board members will be encouraged to support the aims and objectives of the Ontario Library Association (OLA), Ontario Library Service (OLS), Federation of Public Libraries (FOPL), and other pertinent organizations. Dependent on the Library’s budget, the Board may elect to send Board members to library conferences each year for the purpose of professional development. Decisions as to which conferences to attend and how many members to send shall be made by regular Board voting procedures. The Board is encouraged to prioritize sending new Board members and those who will/are assuming executive Board functions. The Board may also elect to prioritize sending Library staff members in lieu of Board members, in consultation with the CEO.
