To ensure that the records of all staff, volunteers, and members of the Thunder Bay Public Library are handled confidentially.
This policy is in effect for all staff, volunteers, and board members. It is interpreted to include, but is not restricted to, all information pertaining to employees and members use of the library.
The Thunder Bay Public Library will observe requirements of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MIPPA) and the Public Libraries Act. The Library may use personal information or transaction records for all reasonable internal Library purposes and operations such as enhancing the experience of Library members or improving Library operations.
Personal information deemed confidential by the Library may only be released for purposes other than library purposes on authorization by the CEO, on presentation of a court order, or with the written permission of the person involved.
This policy does not cover disclosures of information which are made on the basis of personal knowledge or recollection of events which do not concern the above.
