In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter's summer has been one of boredom and loneliness. He has received none of the letters promised by his friends Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley. One night at the Dursley's, while being sent to his room for "bad behaviour", Harry is greeted by a small house elf named Dobby. Dobby warns him and tells him not to go back to Hogwarts, claiming terrible things will happen if he does so. Harry argues with the elf and finds out that Dobby had been hiding his letters from his friends in hope that Harry would choose not to return to Hogwarts the following year. Harry disregards the house elf's warnings and packs his items for school. Harry escapes out of the Dursley's house through his bedroom window, venturing off into the night sky in his friend Ron's flying car. They fly off for their second year at Hogwarts, where unexplainable events will follow.
This is a continuation of the first story in the Harry Potter series. This was easily one of the best books in the series, allowing us to learn much more of Harry's character through the plot of the story. J. K. Rowling did an incredible job with the detail that goes into these books. The details allowed for millions of kids to become immersed in this magical world that she created. Overall, I would happily recommend this book to any child who loves to read and dream, or anyone who simply enjoys an easy and enjoyable read that throws them into a world full of magic and adventure.
