Aboriginal Author Book Series for Classroom and Book Club Use

Book Clubs in a Bag are now available with sets of the titles which have won the First Nations Communities Read Award.

Each year there is a title selected by the First Nations public library community in Ontario which is honoured for its quality and recommended for reading by all. We have created Book Clubs in a Bag for each of the honoured titles. Some years feature children's titles and some years feature adult titles but all are very worthy of a book club's attention and sharing. They could also be used for group reading in a classroom or organization. The purpose of the program is to :

  • encourage family literacy, intergenerational storytelling, and intergenerational information sharing;
  • are written and/or illustrated by, or otherwise involve the participation of a First Nation, Métis, or Inuit creator;
  • contain First Nation, Métis, or Inuit content produced with the support of First Nation, Métis, or Inuit advisers/consultants or First Nation, Métis, or Inuit endorsement.
