Library on the Loose!
(Thunder Bay, ON) - Wednesday, July 4, 2012 -- The Thunder Bay Public Library launched a new and unique outreach campaign called ‘Library on the Loose’ today at the Intercity Shopping Centre. The goals of the new outreach initiative are to engage with people beyond the walls of the Library; to learn more about local businesses and how we can work together; and to promote library programs, services and collections to the public.
For the next three months, Library staff will be donning brightly coloured lime-green t-shirts and will visit local businesses and take part in special events across the City. Staff will talk to people about how the Library can help with their specific needs. Staff will also hand out Library information, Library cards and giveaways like pens, pencils, tattoos and new window clings to children and adults alike. Where Wifi is available, staff will have an iPad to demonstrate how to access online resources and how to use portable devices to download free ebooks.
Lindsey Long, Public Services Librarian, spoke at the launch and said “Library staff are very excited about this new outreach effort. We look forward to answering questions and gathering stories from members of our community and providing information about the many services and programs that we have to offer.”
Be on the lookout for the Library on the Loose this summer at special events and your place of business.
