The Gateway to Northwestern Ontario History is a virtual gallery of historic photographs, books, drawings and artifacts from the libraries and museums of Northwestern Ontario. It is a local sector of the larger portal called OurDigitalWorld. OurDigitalWorld formed in 2012 on the foundation laid by its predecessor Our Ontario, which was a service of Knowledge Ontario. It provides access to the digital collections of the Thunder Bay Public Library, as well as other libraries, archives, museums, historical societies, government agencies and private collections from across Thunder Bay, Ontario, and Canada. Sponsored by The Chronicle-Journal, the Thunder Bay News Index is a subject index bringing together newspaper and magazine articles on Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario. As part of the more comprehensive Gateway to Northwestern Ontario History collection, this index includes more than 50,000 headlines over the past 16+ years.
