Your Rights and Responsibilities as a Library User
The Library provides value by:
- promoting a lifelong interest in reading
- supporting the pursuit of learning
- offering opportunities for the creative use of leisure time
- fostering an informed community
- providing information through effective use of technology
You have the right to:
- information on a wide range of subjects, in many formats and for all ages
- equitable access
- service by informed and courteous staff in a timely manner
- easy to understand library policies and procedures
- confidentiality
- a reliable way to express your concerns and make suggestions
- clean, safe and comfortable buildings
You have the responsibility to:
- respect the rights of other people who use the library
- respect other people's right to intellectual freedom and privacy
- respect other people's right to share a place to study and read
- be courteous to staff and other library users
- follow library rules and regulations
- treat library materials and resources with care
- return items on time
